Has Samini snubbed MTN for Vodafone?

Dancehall king-Samini is on the verge of saying bye-bye to his former pay masters-MTN as he will soon be on the red-side of life with Vodafone as their brand ambassador, reports have said.

This will probably not be a new thing across the world as top international celebrities have one way or the other cross carpet or ported from one telecommunication to the other. But in Ghana, it has rarely occurred though there is always a first time for everything.

A source hinted GhanaWeb that Samini’s apparel to the recently held Ghana meets Naija event, which had no yellow stripes, was a clandestine way of preparing the minds of his followers that he was going to sever all ties with MTN.

“His attire on that event (Ghana meets Naija) was an emphatic statement that he (Samini) was not going to renew his contract with MTN,” the source stressed.

The source, however, could not state why the award winning artiste was parting ways with the company, except to say “it is due to personal reasons”.

But the questions that readily come to mind are: Is Samini confused on whether to join Vodafone or stay with MTN?

Is he cross carpeting because his popularity is fast waning?

Or let’s look at it from the angle that since his current paymasters seem not to be sponsoring any major events lately, and the clauses in the deal he has with the telecom company forbids him from being on another competing brand, this may have somewhat cut him off from the industry? It appears the dancehall king is just leaving on past glory?

As it stands, we cannot push so hard, but inasmuch as we are watching with our microscopic eyes, the fans deserve to know what is going on at every point in time. As events unfold, it is only time that will be able to provide industry watchers with the right answers.

Meet The Guy Who Wrote All Of Kaakie’s Hit Songs

If there is one thing human beings crave the most, it is attention. And when a person does something good, he expects to receive some commendation or acknowledgment.
But, that does not seem to be the case, at least, for one musician who claims to be behind the rise of one of Ghana’s budding musicians.
Kweku Obeng Amoako who prefers to be called Lingua Kat, is a reggae dancehall artiste based in Dansoman. He says he is a song writer and a composer as well.
In an interview with Joy News, he revealed that three of the hit singles recorded by female dancehall artist, Kaakie were originally his songs. These are, Too Much, Top Gyal and DC Turn Up.
He explained that he did not record those three songs because Dansoman-based music producer, Jam Master Jay thought a feminine voice would best suit the song and since he did not have the financial wherewithal to produce it on his own he had to let it go.
Lingua Kat is unhappy his efforts have not been appreciated by Kaakie’s management team as he is never credited even as the composer of the songs that shot Kaakie to the limelight.
He told Joy News’ Gladys Osei Owiredu the songs lack energy because no respect was given to the song writer.
Lingua Kat who says he has been in the music industry for the past two decades said he started off as a dancehall artist even at a time when dancehall music was not popular.
He also adds that he has been working with Samini music since the year 2000.
The good news though is that, Lingua Kat will soon be releasing his own song soon.
“I did dancehall groove where Kaakie sings the chorus and I do the verses” he said.
“I have 300 songs but they never got promoted”, he said singling out a song titled “Mama Africa” which he said “I recorded with Samini but it was never given credence. Black Rasta did the same song with Jah Amber and now he’s been nominated for it in the upcoming bass awards”.
Meanwhile he said he will start shooting a video for his yet to be released song soon

Jay-Z Releases Lyrics To "La Familia," Contains Lil Wayne Diss

Jay-Z takes aim at Lil Wayne, and says he's "ready for that war."
Jay-Z keeps the headlines coming, as the latest lyrics revealed from his upcoming Magna Carta Holy Grailserve as a diss towards Lil Wayne.
On Jay-Z and Kanye West's track "H.A.M.," where Jay raps, "I'm like, 'Really, half-a-billi?' / Nigga, really, you got baby money / Keep it real with niggas, niggas ain't got my lady money," Wayne took the bars as a diss towards Cash Money head honcho Birdman, a/k/a Baby.
In response, Wayne dropped "I'm Good" on Tha Carter IV, rhyming, "I got your baby money / Kidnap your bitch, get that how much you love your lady money."
Though both verses dropped in 2011, it appears Jay-Z hasn't forgotten about the bars aimed at his wife, Beyonce.
“Wanna kidnap wifey / Good luck with that bruh / You must gonna hide your whole family / What you think we wearing black for / Ready for that war / Ready for that war ready / You ain't ready, yo, you radio," spits Jay.
The two emcee's history of subliminals began in 2009, in an interview where Birdman claimed Wayne was both more lyrical and made more money than Hov. Jay brushed off the notion in an interview with Angie Martinez on Hot 97. Later, at a pre-Grammy party in 2012, Wayne spit a few bars dissing Jay-Z and Kanye West's group, The Throne.
It was also heavily speculated that Jay-Z's verse on "Watch What You Say to Me," a track from T.I.'s 2007 release T.I. vs. T.I.P. contained subliminals aimed at Wayne, but was never confirmed.
Magna Carta Holy Grail hits shelves July 4, save one million Samsung Galaxy smartphone users, who will get the album for free via app.
